Lovely Staffies

The RSPCA Sussex East and Hastings Branch have an estimated 20 calls a month asking if we could find homes for Staffies.

Staffordshire Bull Terriers have increasingly bad press. This is because they get into the wrong hands with irresponsible owners who give poor training and badly treat their dogs, this is not the dogs fault.

These lovely dogs in the right hands are loving, loyal and Friendly. They make wonderful family pets as they just want to please so are great with children (they are often affectionately called the 'Nanny Dog'). They are well suited to a close living relationship with their human companions and do not like being left for very long periods of time. These affectionate dogs ask no more than to be part of your world and basically the more time you devote to your staffie the happier he will be.

They are great for getting you out of the house for a walk and a young/adult staffie can practically walk miles. However each dog will have individual exercise needs. They are highly responsive to training as they are an intelligent breed and if trained properly will get on well with other dogs and even cats.

Home comforts seem to be top of their list, as they love a soft cosy bed to lie on and even an armchair or sofa if allowed!

Their very short coats make them really easy to look after,as they hardly need grooming.

If you feel you can give a staffie a loving home please telephone Ann Craske 01424 813434  between 10.00 am and 6.00 p.m.

Tabby DSH, male, 10 years old.King Louie is an affectionate chap, he can come across a little shy at first but once he's comfortable in his surroundings he quickly gains confidence. He loves to sit next to you having an abundance of strokes and would happily stay there for hours on end and chat to you all day! He is a sensitive soul so would need a quiet home with no other pets or children and a neighbourhood with few cats. He has been used to exploring outside in his previous home, and it would be nice for him to have a good size garden to head out into eventually. Louie is with a foster carer. Provisional Reserve
Tortie & White DLH female, 8 years old.Maple is a beautiful troubled soul in need of understanding and kindness. She needs a patient and calm owner, who can help develop her confidence at her own pace. Maple is very wary of feet in particular and panics if she feels cornered, which is why she needs a quiet household with no children or other pets. She needs access to a litter tray in an area that is very quiet and easily accessible where she won’t be interrupted. If you are an experienced cat owner who is able to give a great deal of time into helping Maple, please contact us. Maple is currently with a Foster Carer.
