Volunteers enjoy well deserved tea party

The volunteers at Bluebell Ridge were recognised for their work at an afternoon tea party on Thursday 28th of June at the centre in Chowns Hill, Hastings.

The volunteers enjoyed tea, sandwiches, scones and cakes and were presented with certificates of appreciation, with eleven volunteers receiving certificates for over ten years of service. The event also included a speech from centre manager, Myra Grove, who delivered a heartfelt thank you message and disclosed the exciting changes planned for the centre over the next couple of years.

The volunteers help to support both staff and cats in a variety of ways, including cleaning the cat pods and runs, driving cats to and from the vets, visiting potential adopter's homes, socialising with the cats, arranging fundraising events, helping with office admin and even making the centre grounds look beautiful.

Centre Manager, Myra Grove, said: “Our volunteers make a huge difference to animal welfare in Hastings and Rother, providing an additional level of support and going the extra mile every day. The tea party is our opportunity to thank them for the contribution that they make. It was great to see so many of our dedicated volunteers enjoying themselves. I would also like to say a big thank you to Asda in St. Leonards for kindly providing the delicious cakes."

Black DSH male, 10 years old approx.Jingles is a sweet, gentle lad with different coloured eyes, making him very unique. He can be a little shy initially, but when used to his surroundings, gains in confidence and enjoys a gentle fuss. He would make a good companion cat and would ideally prefer one-on-one attention or a calm, quiet household where he can be himself and develop his loving character. He would also like to be the only pet of the household.
Tortie DSH female, 13 years old approx.Mavis is a chatty lady who loves a fuss and a cuddle. Mavis is being treated for a thyroid condition which means she has one tablet twice a day to keep things stable. She is very good at taking her medication which is added to her food. She really deserves to find her forever home where she can receive all of the love that she needs.Mavis is currently in a foster home. Please speak to a member of staff for more information. We will be happy to tell you all about her.
Tortie DLH female, 10 1/2 years old.Bootzie is an elegant looking girl who would suit a quiet and calm house with no other pets, she would benefit from a routine to help her settle. Bootzie is shy and unsure of new people. She needs an owner who understands that it may take her a long time to become comfortable in a new home. She is very affectionate on her terms, she like to rub round your legs and hands. We have found she likes to be the one to make contact with us, but can panic when she is touched in return if she's not expecting it.
