Buy a cocktail and help black cats!

October is National Black Cat Month and local bars will be selling Black Cat Cocktails to help raise awareness and funds for Bluebell Ridge Cat Rehoming Centre.

Next month is about raising awareness of the beautiful black cats in animal shelters that have to wait longer to be adopted due to the colour of their fur. There are many superstitions associated with black cats which stops some people from adopting them.

The Black Cat cocktail, which contains cherry brandy, coke, cranberry juice and vodka, will be available to buy from Monday 1st October until Wednesday 31st from:

The Drift In Cafe Bar
91-92 Queens Road, Hastings TN34 1RL

Tin Tins
21 Robertson Street, Hastings TN34 1HL

The Stag Inn
14 All Saints Street, Hastings TN34 3BJ

All venues will be giving a donation for each Black Cat cocktail sale to Bluebell Ridge who are owned and operated by the Sussex East and Hastings Branch of the RSPCA. The Branch is a separate charity within the national body and are entirely self-funded, which means that each year they have to raise over £150,000 to continue with their vital work.

Nikki Hawes at Bluebell Ridge said, "There are many times when our black cats have been overlooked purely because of their colour. All cats deserve the chance of a better life and we are really grateful to all of the venues that are supporting our work."

Black DSH female, 7 1/2 years old.Sasha is a beauty with a sensitive nature. Although she finds new situations a bit daunting, she soon settles down to become a loving and affectionate little lady. She is looking for a fresh start with a nurturing owner or older family. In return, she will be a faithful friend and a joy to have in your home.
Black and white DSH female, 10 years old. Chiana is a sweet gentle lady who will happily curl up all day and not get herself noticed. She doesn't like the hustle and bustle of the cattery, so would love a quiet household to call home again. She has been well loved and cared for but due to circumstances her owner had to move to a nursing home. She is a sensitive little cat who takes a little time to trust but in the right home she will be a devoted companion.
Lilac Tortie DSH female, 5 years approx.Tallulah is a very sweet nature girl with a heart of gold. She is gentle and quiet and loves a fuss. She is however a little wary of new surroundings, but given time will settle with an older family and become a central part of the house. She finds herself with us as after being picked up as a stray, so she will appreciate the love and security a new home will bring.
