Re-homing Animals Over The Christmas Period

The RSPCA has issued the following policy with reference to re-homing animals over the Christmas period.

"As we rely on a network of volunteers to conduct our home visits, we often find that the speed with which we can get the home visits done slows down, as the demands of Christmas affect our volunteers too. Because of this, it may take a little longer for your adoption to be processed and we appreciate your patience.

Christmas is a busy and hectic time for most households. Unusual noise and activities, extra demands upon the new owners` time and the difficulties an animal may face when settling into a new home. Experience tells us it could end in tears, so we may not release new adoptions to homes before Christmas if it is best for all concerned.

However, we do understand that for some people the festive period is a calm, quiet time and every adoption is dealt with on an individual basis.

We urge everyone thinking of adopting a pet at Christmas to consider the long term commitment required to properly care for an animal. People should take into account whether they have the time and money to care for an animal 365 days of the year for the next 10 -20 years. Factors to consider include daily grooming, feeding, exercise and ongoing costs such as vet bills and registration fees.

If you are confident that a pet is the right addition to your home the RSPCA recommends visiting a rescue centre with all the family so they can pick out the pet which will be best suited to their particular life style. Pets are a lifelong commitment. Consider carefully before adopting a pet to ensure that this pet will be loved for life".

Ginger DSH, male, 14 years old approx.Ivan is a dear and sensitive gentleman who was a stray before he came to us and looked like he had to fend for himself for some time. He would like nothing more than a cosy home to call his own, and a safe spot to snuggle down. Ivan is very shy and requires a patient owner who he could learn to trust and gain confidence. Once he is comfortable, he will really enjoy a fuss and loves being brushed. He would like a quiet home with an older family and could possibly be an indoor cat in a spacious environment.Ivan is currently in a foster home. Please ask for details.
Bengal female, 10 years old.Phoebe is a very sociable and friendly girl who loves to chat and enjoys the attention. She would suit a household where she can interact and be part of a family possibly with older children. We are looking for a home for Phoebe that has a fair bit of outside space and she would need to be the only cat of the household.
Tabby DSH females, 10 and 9 years old.Sugar and Princess are two lovely ladies who are sweet natured and gentle. They are affectionate and loving once they settle. They would suit a quiet home where they can adjust in their own time, as they can be timid in new surroundings. Sugar and Princess are devoted to each other and seek reassurance from their company.
