Re-homing Animals Over The Christmas Period

The RSPCA has issued the following policy with reference to re-homing animals over the Christmas period.

"As we rely on a network of volunteers to conduct our home visits, we often find that the speed with which we can get the home visits done slows down, as the demands of Christmas affect our volunteers too. Because of this, it may take a little longer for your adoption to be processed and we appreciate your patience.

Christmas is a busy and hectic time for most households. Unusual noise and activities, extra demands upon the new owners` time and the difficulties an animal may face when settling into a new home. Experience tells us it could end in tears, so we may not release new adoptions to homes before Christmas if it is best for all concerned.

However, we do understand that for some people the festive period is a calm, quiet time and every adoption is dealt with on an individual basis.

We urge everyone thinking of adopting a pet at Christmas to consider the long term commitment required to properly care for an animal. People should take into account whether they have the time and money to care for an animal 365 days of the year for the next 10 -20 years. Factors to consider include daily grooming, feeding, exercise and ongoing costs such as vet bills and registration fees.

If you are confident that a pet is the right addition to your home the RSPCA recommends visiting a rescue centre with all the family so they can pick out the pet which will be best suited to their particular life style. Pets are a lifelong commitment. Consider carefully before adopting a pet to ensure that this pet will be loved for life".

Black & White shorthaired 9 years old siblings. Male and Female.Patch and Socks are still settling into cattery life. They are a very calm pair who enjoy curling up in their beds. They are quite shy, but do enjoy a quiet fuss and they both have a lot of affection to give. They will need a quiet forever home with no children or other pets.
Starsky- Black and White DSLH, male, 6 years old. Eddie- Black and white DSH, male, 2 years old.Starsky and Eddie are lovely boys who get on very well together. They are timid boys looking for a special someone who will give them the time they need to settle and blossom. Eddie is more confident than his friend and does come forward for attention. They are looking for an older family as they need a fairly quiet, calm home.
Torbie and white DLH, 3 years approxSaffron is a very pretty girl who is shy and still settling into cattery life. She tends to hide away more, but with time we hope she will reveal her affectionate side we know she has. She is looking for a quiet home where she can settle in her own time and gain her confidence.
Tortie Female, 11 years old approx. Tabitha is a lady who will shout to get your attention. She's a little set in her ways with an independent side. She's looking for a new home to retire, that's quiet with lots of places to curl up for a nap! She would need to be the only cat of the household.
